How to give your kids an old fashioned Summer

Let me start by saying…I get that summer doesn’t look the same for everyone!  Whatever your situation is: you work full time, your kids are at camp or you are at home – the end goal is the same!  Awesome memories for the kids, right?  Don’t feel guilty about what you can or can’t do, just make some memories!     I loved carefree summer days growing up. I’m sure looking back the days were a little rosier than I thought they were at the time, but there was something magical about summer as a kid. There’s just something about a carefree,  sitting around, lazy type of old fashioned summer…

Tips for Riding Amtrak (with kids)

***This post is not sponsored, it is just my personal experience.****   My family and I took a trip from Boston to Ohio on Amtrak two summers ago.  I had the hardest time finding information about what to expect with Amtrak, so I decided to post my experience in hope it helps someone.  First of all if you are on the fence about taking a long train ride with kids, just do it!  I would recommend it to anyone. It is so nice not having to drive, you can actually talk, play games, read and enjoy the sights. Something the driver never gets to do on a long road…

    Parenting: It takes a Village…

But what if you don’t have a village? Or your village is too toxic for your kids? My mother used to say it takes the whole family to raise kids.  We lived at home with my grandparents living on the first floor.  My parents had six kids, and it seemed like a lot more when you included neighborhood friends, boyfriends, girlfriends (when we were older).  My mother had her friends with their own kids who were always around and sporadic visits from aunts, uncles and cousins.  It felt like a village, a completely insane one- but a village none the less.

    St. Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner.  Even if you aren’t Irish- it is still fun to celebrate! My kids have been obsessed with Leprechaun traps the past few years.  They have been a ton of fun to build too! The Leprechaun usually visits us, has some fun and makes a mess. I just do a fun St. Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt and a festive dessert. Nothing super fancy!

    Shared Girls Room Inspiration

Lately, I have been trying to think of ways to refresh my home without spending a ton of money.  Spring is in the air (maybe when the snow melts) and that always gets me in the mood for some redecorating. Since our youngest daughters are close in age, my girls share a bedroom. We live in a small ranch house so a solo bedroom isn’t really an option right now. I have been scouring the internet looking for shared girls room inspiration that would be easy on the wallet. Now that my kids are getting a little older, their room needs to work for them.  They need their own space…
